Contracts

A long-term contract

In Farming for Nature we work with long-term contracts, preferably for a period of 30 years or more. The farmer signs a contract with a regional foundation, in the case of private financing. Regarding governmental financing it is also possible that the farmer signs a contract with one of the governments. The government bodies involved make arrangements between them.
The contract states the obligations and the rights of both parties. The farmer decides himself, within the general preconditions that are mentioned in the contract, about the structure of the landscape and the business plan. The land remains in the possession of the farmer. Every area will aim for the typical nature and landscape qualities of its region. The organisational structure of cooperation and contracts has to fit into the region as well.

Linked to the soil

The development of nature and landscape takes a lot of time: the quality increases slowly due to continuing management. The farmer himself also needs certainty for adjustments necessary for the management. The agreements are therefore made for a long period of time. The landscape-oriented farmer commits himself to maintaining the green and blue landscape elements. The same accounts for his successor. The agreements basically apply forever. A private law agreement such as an easement or servitude must link the agreement to the land. The land of the nature-oriented farm can only be sold to another nature-oriented farmer, so that the desired management can be continued.
